Car crashes into tree, ignites, FHP says

Infant, 2 adults hurt in crash


An infant was airlifted to a hospital after being involved in a Lake County crash, fire officials say.

Lake County Fire Rescue said the vehicle crashed into a tree at County Road 42 and County Road 44 in DeLand just before 4 p.m. The car then caught fire and several bystanders pulled the driver, 30-year-old Brian Steen, passenger, 29-year-old Vanessa Estes, and 1-year-old Remy Estes from the vehicle.

Steen and Estes were taken to the hospital in serious condition. The 1-year-old suffered minor injuries.

County Road 42 was closed at County Road 44 as the investigation continued.
