Multiple crashes reported in Volusia County; 1 dead

Man dead, another hospitalized after New Smyrna Beach crash

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Multiple crashes were reported Friday night in Volusia County, including a fatal accident in New Smyrna Beach.

Troopers said a man was killed and another man was hospitalized after a crash on State Road 44 in New Smyrna Beach.

The first crash on Interstate 4 happened around 9:14 p.m. Friday on eastbound I-4 at mile marker 119 in DeLand.

The crash involving a motorcycle blocked all of the eastbound lanes. The interstate at mile marker 119 reopened just before 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The motorcyclist's condition was not given.

A second crash on I-4 happened around 9:50 p.m. Friday on eastbound I-4 at mile marker 118.

Authorities said the crash involved multiple vehicles. It's unknown if there were any injuries due to the crash.

I-4 reopened at mile marker 118 just before 11 p.m. Friday.

A crash on northbound I-95 at Pioneer Trail had the interstate backed up around 7 p.m. Friday.
