Orange County deputies arrest man in kidnapping, attempted rape

Woman jumped from man's SUV, nearly raped, cops say

MAITLAND, Fla. – Orange County deputies have arrested on Monday a man in connection with the kidnapping and attempted rape case last week.

Ivan Manuel Paredes Maldonado, 22, has been charged with attempted sexual battery, kidnapping and aggravated battery in the incident.

According to deputies, the woman said she was working as a prostitute on Wednesdayand was picked up by a man, later identified as Maldonado, in a blue Saturn SUV near Mott Avenue and Edgewater Drive in Lockhart.

As they were driving, Maldonado became hysterical and started to drive erratically, and the woman told the man to let her out of the SUV, deputies said.

The woman then jumped from the vehicle at the intersection of Magnolia Homes Road and Maitland Boulevard, but Maldonado pulled over, chased the woman across the street and tackled her, deputies said.

He tried to rape the woman and told her she was going to die, according to deputies.

The woman managed to escape and flagged down a passerby, who called authorities.

Deputies said on Monday Maldonado was arrested on a warrant on Saturday.
