Evacuations lifted after suspicious items investigation at off-campus housing near UCF

Bottles of foil, acid found at Knights Circle

ORLANDO, Fla. – Evacuations have been lifted at off-campus housing near the University of Central Florida after bottles mixed with acid and foil prompted a suspicious package investigation on Tuesday.

UCF police say apartments at Knights Circle near Building 12 were evacuated out of an abundance of caution due to suspicious items found by a maintenance worker in the middle of the parking lot.

Police said they found four Powerade bottles with a mix of foil and acid, which causes bottles to pressurize and explode.

The all-clear was given just before noon and police said they believe the bottles were left out as some sort of prank.

Police are asking for the public's help with identifying those responsible, who could face criminal charges. You can contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS if you have any information.

Knights Circle is UCF-affiliated housing located across the street from UCF's main campus.
