Norovirus investigation underway after nearly 30 sick at Sanford retirement center

Health Department investigates GI virus at Renaissance Retirement Center

SANFORD, Fla. – Twenty-nine people have come down with a gastrointestinal virus at a retirement center, prompting a possible norovirus investigation by the Department of Health.

The illnesses were reported at the Renaissance Retirement Center in Sanford. Three people had to be taken to the hospital, but they have since been released, officials say.

The health department says they expect to find out what may have caused the seniors to get sick by Friday.

The center has been cleaned and a representative says no new cases have been reported.
