Man wanted in DeLand homicide investigation in custody

Police say man confessed to killing woman, charged with 2nd-degree murder

DeLAND, Fla. – The DeLand Police Department said on Thursday officers have found the suspect in a homicide investigation and that the man has confessed to killing a woman. 

Police said Jeffrey S. Crivelli, 31, was found in Georgia and is in custody on second-degree murder charges. 

Police said they were called to the Lyn Garden Apartments on Wednesday afternoon after Brandy Johnson was found dead. Crivelli was named a person of interest and an overnight search was sparked for him. 

According to the report, Crivelli confessed to killing Johnson.

Neighbors say Crivelli was Johnson's boyfriend and had been living with her and her 4-year-old son for a year. One neighbor said that he heard Crivelli and Johnson arguing hours before the woman died.

The cause of death is pending an autopsy, police said.

The child has been placed with family by Department of Children and Families.
