Severe weather alerts issued in Central Florida

Rain to push west by Rolling Stones showtime

ORLANDO, Fla. – Severe weather alerts were issued in Central Florida on Friday afternoon as storms moved through the region.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued in Orange County and special weather statements were issued throughout Central Florida.

Temperatures will hit 89 degrees at 3 p.m. when the parking lot for the Citrus Bowl opens for the Rolling Stones concert. By show start time, temperatures will drop to 83 degrees.

"We will see some showers developing in downtown Orlando near 3 or 4 o'clock," said Local 6 meteorologist Julie Broughton. "By showtime we should be dry out there by 8 o'clock."

Rain chances will be at 30 percent in the afternoon hours Friday. 

"We're looking at the potential of heavy rain gusty winds and lightning," Broughton said. "Most of the rain moves west of downtown between 5 and 6." 

High temperatures will be in the low 90s through the weekend with chance of rain at 20 percent.
