Man hospitalized in Casselberry park stabbing

2 teens arrested for their involvement in stabbing

CASSELBERRY, Fla. – The Seminole County Sheriff's Office has arrested two teens in connection with a stabbing at a Casselberry park.

Deputies arrested Johnathan Wilson, 17, of Winter Springs, and Alyssa Newton, 17, of Apopka, for their involvement in a robbery and stabbing that happened around 10 p.m. Friday at Red Bug Lake Park.

Fire Rescue officials said the man was stabbed in the head. Deputies are working to determine what led to the stabbing.

The man was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center and is listed in stable condition.

A witness told deputies that he, the victim and Alyssa Newton planned to meet on the pedestrian bridge to conduct a drug transaction. Newton arrived with Jonathan Wilson.

During the encounter a scuffle ensued and Wilson brandished a knife and stabbed the victim, deputies said. Both Wilson and Newton fled the scene.

Deputies said they followed a trail of blood leading away from the bridge that indicated someone else might be hurt.

A check of local hospitals revealed a suspect, later identified as Wilson, arrived at an emergency room and was covered in blood. Newton was with him, but not injured.

Deputies took the witness to the hospital, where Wilson and Newton were positively identified as the two involved.

Investigators said they arrested Newton for robbery and Wilson for attempted homicide, robbery and aggravated battery. Both were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The names of the witness and the victim are being withheld since the investigation is still ongoing.
