Missing Oviedo girl found safe in South Carolina, officials say

OVIEDO, Fla. – A Central Florida girl who was reported missing was found safe Monday night in South Carolina.

A statewide missing child alert had been issued earlier Monday for Melisa Manuel, 11, who had last been seen in the area of the 900 block of Sharon Court in Oviedo.

Melisa was found in the company of 22-year-old Antonio Morales and a woman named Karla Martinez, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Oviedo police said Morales faces charges of interfering with child custody.  He is in the process of be extradited to Seminole County, according to police.

Melisa's mother told Local 6 that her daughter had been seeing Morales against her wishes.  She also said they had run away together once before.
