Person of interest sought in Seminole County school hoax bomb threats

Investigators say cellphone purchased at Dollar General just before calls made

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Seminole County deputies released surveillance pictures of a person of interest who they say may be connected to hoax bomb threats to three elementary schools last fall.

The hoax bomb threat call sparked evacuations at several Seminole County schools in September 2014 when he said he placed a bomb at Casselberry, Winter Springs and Oviedo elementary (which does not exist) schools.

Deputies said they are working to identify a man seen on surveillance cameras purchasing a cellphone from a Dollar General store in Casselberry less than an hour before the hoax call was made.

According to deputies, it is believed the cellphone was used to make the hoax call.

The man is not being considered a suspect and deputies are looking to speak with him.

Anyone with information on the man can call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS or the Seminole County Sheriff's Office at 407-665-6650.
