Woman shot in Palm Bay while pregnant arrested on possession charges, officials say

Amanda Ruiz, 26, charged with possession of firearm by convicted felon

PALM BAY, Fla. – A woman who was shot on June 9 while she was pregnant has been arrested.

Amanda Ruiz, 26, who was eight months pregnant, and her husband were found with gunshot wounds 200 block of Interchange Drive.

While the woman was initially listed in stable condition, her fetus did not survive, police said.

Palm Bay police said the shooting was the result of a domestic-related incident.

Officials said Tuesday that Ruiz was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation on drug-related charges.

Officials said the investigation into the shooting in which she lost her fetus is ongoing.

No other details were immediately released.
