ORLANDO, Fla. – A Central Florida father was arrested after troopers say he didn't pay a toll on the Turnpike and refused to pull over before crashing into a patrol car with his 4-year-old daughter in the back seat.
Joseph Murray, 32, was arrested on aggravated assault, leaving the scene of a crash, fleeing and eluding law enforcement and driving with a suspended license in the Wednesday incident.
Troopers said they were following Murray after he refused to pull over after not paying a toll on the Turnpike.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers followed Murray to Conroy Road and Interstate 4 before getting stuck in traffic on the exit ramp. Murray then hit several cars, including a patrol car, in an attempt to escape before getting wedged in between two cars, troopers said.
Murray was booked into Orange County jail and his daughter was released to a family member.
