Van crashes into Seminole County home

Man, wife, baby were on other side of home at time of wreck

CHULUOTA, Fla. – A van crashed into a home Friday morning in Seminole County while a man, his wife and their 1-year-old daughter were inside.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. at 39 East Second Street in Chuluota.

Investigators said a pickup truck rear-ended a work van on State Road 419, and the van crashed into the corner home.

"(I heard) this big explosion, and I was just so shocked seeing this car all the way inside my house," Ricardo Quieros said.

The van came through the front of the home, where the kitchen is located.  The occupants were in a bedroom on the other side of the home.

"I'm thankful because I have a 1-year-old baby. It's the only baby I have. If something happened to her, I'd be dead," said Quieros, fighting back tears while recounting the crash.

Quieros said he's thankful that he, his wife and their daughter chose to sleep in on Friday, saying that any other day around 8 a.m., they'd be preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

"They told me that sometimes the little one is out walking around in the kitchen, so she was very grateful that nobody got injured or that her baby was still asleep," Seminole County Fire Battalion Chief Marc Baumgart said.

Two people were inside the van and one person was in the truck. All three were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
