Woman attacked, dragged across pavement

Deputies searching for purse snatcher

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Deputies are asking for the public's help to find a purse snatcher who dragged an 18-year-old across a parking lot in his car.

It happened Wednesday night at The Loop on North John Young Parkway in Kissimmee.

Only Local 6 spoke to the victim.

"I was scared. I was just hoping I wasn't going to die, because I really thought he was going to run over me."

The college sophomore didn't want Local 6 News to show her face or use her name, but she said she's grateful to be alive. She said she had been shopping at Old Navy and when she walked back to her car, a man in a red Toyota Corolla approached her from behind.

"I just felt someone grab my bag, and I saw him in the mirror and I ended up just going along with him."

He grabbed the purse off her shoulder, so she was forced to run with the car as she tried untangling herself. But then he sped up and she was dragged across the pavement.

"He was going really fast, like no mercy fast. He didn't care if I got hurt or anything, he just wanted to get out of there," she said.

She was finally able to break free, and her friend called 911.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his late 20s with short, straight dark brown hair. He has a thin mustache and was wearing thin-framed sunglasses.

Local 6 has requested any surveillance video from The Loop parking lot from deputies.

Anyone with any information on the attack is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff's Office at 407-348-2222 or Crimeline at (800) 423-TIPS.
