Police chase ends in crash in Sanford back yard

2 arrested after pursuit through 2 counties

SANFORD, Fla. – A police chase through two Central Florida counties ended in a crash in a Sanford homeowner's back yard.

Two people were arrested Thursday in connection with the chase, which ended on Whitner Way, east of State Road 417 and north of Lake Mary Boulevard in Sanford.

According to Sanford police, around midnight officers spotted a white Kia Sol believed to involved in an armed robbery earlier this week. They tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver took off and entered Volusia County, police said.

Volusia deputies forced the vehicle to turn around, and the driver lost control while driving in Sanford, crashing into the back yard, police said. 

Two men were arrested, but their names have not been released.

No one was hurt.

The robbery occurred Tuesday at the Celery Food Mart in Sanford, but it's not yet known if the duo in the Kia was involved.
