UPDATE: Body found in water in Deltona has been identified

Body found behind Publix at Saxon Crossings

DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies have released the name of the man that was found dead in a small body of water in Deltona, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office says.

The discovery was made Friday evening near 2100 Saxon Boulevard, which is near Interstate 4.

Deputies arrived after a small group of fishermen found the man's body identified as Donald Cornelius Smith, 43, in the water behind the Publix at Saxon Crossings, the Sheriff's Office said.

VCSO's dive team recovered the body.

Smith's cause of death will be determined by an autopsy scheduled for Monday, deputies said.
