South Florida woman dies after vehicle crashes into tree
OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – A woman is dead and a man was hurt in a crash on the Florida Turnpike, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
It happened at 1:10 p.m. Saturday on the Turnpike at mile marker 246 in Osceola County.
The 29-year-old Hialeah woman was driving north on the Turnpike in her 2005 Nissan vehicle when for an unknown reason, she lost control of her vehicle, troopers said.
The Nissan left the roadway and the left side of the vehicle struck a tree.
FHP said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, a 25-year-old Davie man, suffered minor injuries. Troopers said he was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center.
The woman and man were both wearing seat belts, according to FHP's report. Troopers do not suspect alcohol was a factor in the crash.
