According to Volusia County sheriff's deputies, the woman called police to report that a naked man was on her screened-in porch and was trying to get into her home.  She said the man broke a window and was trying to get in through the front door, according to authorities.

The woman, who was awakened by the sound of broken glass, yelled at the man and told him that she would shoot him if he entered her home, according to authorities.

Volusia County sheriff's deputies and DeLand police found the man, later identified as Herndon, in front of the woman's home.

Authorities described Herndon as very erratic and said he refused to provide a statement.  Deputies said it's not known if he was under the influence of drugs.  An investigation is ongoing.

Herndon was arrested and taken to jail.
