Usual summer weather pattern impacts Coke Zero 400

ORLANDO, Fla. – The start of the Coke Zero 400 race was delayed Sunday due to rain and a start time has not been announced.

A holding pattern continued across the state Sunday with high pressure overhead.

Weak southerly winds pumped in the heat and humidity, while the sea breezes collided over the interior areas Sunday afternoon. Storms developed across Central Florida, issuing severe thunderstorm alerts.

Ahead of the rain, inland highs reached the low 90s, with coastal areas topping off in the upper 80s.

Unsettled weather will continue through Tuesday, with a slightly drier trend returning by the second half of the work week.
