Volusia schools to get $1.5 million from BP
Oil giant to pay more than a million dollars to Volusia schools after 2010 oil spill
VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. – Volusia County schools are about to receive an extra $1.5 million, due to the 2010 BP oil spill.
According to the News-Journal, school board members voted on the agreement last Tuesday.
The county along with several others argued BP owed them money, claiming the Deepwater Horizon spill cost the states sales tax revenue that would have been spent on education.
