Orlando police recruiting for dog walker watch program

'Yappy Hour' event hosted at Park of Americas

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando police are hoping to turn some dog walkers, into crime fighters.

The department is launching a new dog walker watch program.

Officers are looking to train people who go out with their dogs in the same neighborhood every day on how to look out for suspicious incidents and people.

To help with recruiting, Orlando police are holding a "Yappy Hour" event, Thursday evening. Orlando police officers and Mayor Buddy Dyer will be on hand to answer questions.

The event is being held at 5:30 p.m. at the Park of the Americas on Andes Avenue in Orlando.
