The event was organized to show support for Marion County's decision to return the Confederate flag to a display in front of its government complex.

The ride was rerouted away from the city's Northwoods neighborhood after some residents threatened to shoot into the procession.

Shots were fired during an argument over the flag, but no one was injured.
