New photo shows Orlando officer recovering from hit-and-run

Wife of Officer William Anderson posts picture on fundraising site

ORLANDO, Fla. – For the first time, the public is getting a look at an Orlando police officer who is recovering after being injured during a traffic stop.

Officer William Anderson's wife posted a picture on a fundraising site, showing him spending time with his 18-month-old daughter.

The picture was taken inside Anderson's room at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Anderson was hurt July 13 when he pulled over a car while investigating a call about shots fired on Kirkman Road.

Investigators said Anderson went around the front of the car, when a passenger in that vehicle started running.  Police said at the same time, the driver, 17-year-old Edward Kelty, sped up and hit Anderson.

Kelty, along with two other teens were arrested.

Meanwhile, a fundraiser for Officer Anderson has raised more than $33,000.
