DELTONA, Fla. – One person was ejected from a van and several others were injured early Tuesday in a crash on Interstate 4 in Volusia County.

The crash happened on I-4 west in Deltona.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the van was traveling westbound when one of its tires exploded. The driver lost control of the van, which struck a guardrail and flipped, troopers said.

One passenger was ejected and ended up in the eastbound lanes, the FHP said.  The victim was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

As many as five others might have been injured in the crash, the FHP said.

I-4 was closed in the area as troopers investigated the crash, but the interstate later reopened.

A second crash occurred in the same area when another driver slowed down to get a glimpse of the first crash, the FHP said.  No one was injured, however.
