911 calls released in Florida Publix brawl
Fight sparked as husband defended pregnant wife over shopping cart placement
BALDWIN PARK, Fla. – Authorities released the 911 calls on Wednesday in the brawl at a Baldwin Park Publix that grabbed national headlines and the attention of police earlier this month.
The fight occurred on July 13 at the Publix on Meeting Place and was posted on YouTube later that day.
In the calls, which are from shoppers and Publix employees, one person described the incident as a "big fight" involving a lot of customers.
The 911 calls come days after Orlando police recommended the state attorney's office file battery charges against Michael Varley, the husband of the pregnant woman who said Edwin Colon argued with her over the placement of her shopping cart.
Neither Varley, nor Colon have been charged or arrested.
