The crash happened around 10:30 a..m. on I-95 south near International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach.  Southbound lanes reopened just after noon.

The FHP said a Ford SUV was traveling southbound when a tire separated, causing the driver, a 32-year-old Wachula woman, to lose control.  The SUV left the roadway and rolled over several times, troopers said.

The driver and her seven passengers, six of whom are children, were taken to Halifax Medical Center.  The driver suffered serious injuries, and three of the children were critically hurt, the FHP said.  The ages of the children were not immediately known.

According to troopers, there were reports that some passengers were ejected from the SUV, but the FHP has not confirmed how many were thrown from the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
