Search for missing paddleboarder off Florida coast suspended
The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies have suspended the search for man that went paddleboarding off the coast of Florida last weekend.
William Morlock, 58, was reported missing at 9:05 a.m. on Sunday by his sister. Morlock was last seen on Friday evening at their home as he was preparing his paddleboard.
The paddleboard was located Saturday six nautical miles east of Normandy Beach, Florida, off the coast of St. Lucie County.
"In this tragic time, our deepest condolences go to the family and friends of Mr. Morlock," said Capt. Michael Long, the Coast Guard Sector Miami deputy commander. "We are pained that our tireless search efforts resulted in this heartbreaking end."
Crews conducted 42 search patterns that have covered 35,184 square nautical miles as part of their search.
Other agencies that have helped in the search include the U.S. Air Force, Navy and the Port St. Lucie Police Department.
