Beverly F. Brooks located, arrested in Panama City

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – A Florida woman is accused of making up a lie about being kidnapped so she wouldn't have to return to her job as a night shift nursing assistant.

In a news release, the Panama City Police Department said its officers and other agencies spent several hours on Monday morning looking for 43-year-old Beverly F. Brooks.

A concerned co-worker noticed Brooks didn't return from a break and called to see if she needed a ride back to work, authorities said. Brooks told her she was being held against her will by her boyfriend.

Police found Brooks, and she told them she'd made up the story because she didn't want to go back to work, according to officials.

Brooks was arrested and taken to jail.

It's not known whether she's hired a lawyer.
