Man in wheelchair thrown 30 feet after being struck by car at bus stop, police say

Cops: Car loses control on SR-434, crashes into Lynx bus stop

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – A man, who police say is a double-amputee, was thrown 30 feet after being struck when a vehicle crashed into a bus stop on Monday afternoon.

The crash was reported at Gateway Drive and State Road 434 in Altamonte Springs.

Altamonte Springs police say a car was traveling northbound on SR 434 when it lost control and crossed the median, striking another vehicle and hitting the Lynx bus stop.

The man was struck was struck and thrown 30 feet, police said. The man was taken to Florida Hospital Altamonte in serious condition.

SR-434 was shut down at Gateway Drive as the investigation continued.

No other details were immediately available.
