Car fire sets home on fire in Edgewater

Man injured while moving boat away from home

EDGEWATER, Fla. – A vehicle fire started a home fire on Saturday shortly after noon in Edgewater.

Edgewater Fire-Rescue said they were dispatched to 2528 Queen Palm Drive in Edgwater shortly after noon due to a vehicle that was one fire close to a home.

When crews arrived they found a boat in the street and a car in the driveway on fire along with the garage of the home, officers said.

Fire-Rescue said the fire was under control in five minutes. One of the occupants of the home suffered injuries while attempting to move the boat away from the home. He was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and transported to Bert Fish Medical Center.

Two adults and two children occupied the home and have been displaced. The Red Cross is responding.

The origin of the fire was the car in the driveway. The exact cause remains under investigation by the Edgewater Fire Marshall.
