Man stabs girlfriend and grandson, flees to Georgia, Seminole deputies say

Man faces attempted murder, child abuse charges

Seminole County deputies arrested a man who they say attacked his girlfriend and her grandson.

Robert Cyrus, 53, was arrested in Georgia on attempted murder and child abuse charges after suffering a medical emergency in a convenience store.

Deputies said Cyrus stabbed the victims in the face and neck at the Seminole Pointe Apartments just outside of Sanford on Sept. 1.

The  12-year-old grandson heard his grandmother yell for help and saw Cyrus striking and stabbing his grandmother, according to the report.

Deputies said when the boy attempted to intervene, Cyrus attacked him and cut him on his face before tying the boy's hands and feet with a cloth and plastic shopping bag, and placed another cloth in his mouth.

Cyrus then took the keys to the victim's vehicle and fled to Fulton County, Georgia, according to deputies.

The boy was able to free himself and call 911. The victims were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, treated and released.

Cyrus is in Seminole County jail on no bond.
