Teen girl shot in head in Orange County hospitalized, deputies say
Girl taken to Arnold Palmer Hospital in stable condition
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A girl has been hospitalized after a shooting that happened Friday night on Silver Star Road, deputies said.
Orange County Fire Rescue and Orange County deputies responded to an aggravated battery with a firearm at 5512 Silver Star Road around 10:09 p.m. Friday.
Deputies said the Evans High School football game had just ended. When authorities arrived, there was a large group of people in the parking lots of the Hardee's and McDonald's restaurants. Both businesses were shut down by the managers.
A 17-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to the head was found inside of the McDonald's bathroom, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Witnesses said a white SUV drove through the parking lot and began shooting at a group of people who were sitting next to a gray vehicle. Deputies said the victim was not with the group and was hit by a stray bullet
The bullet grazed the side of the girl's head, deputies said. Both vehicles left the area prior to deputies arriving.
The girl was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in stable condition.
