ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A police standoff in Ormond Beach ended peacefully Wednesday morning.

Ormond Beach police surrounded a house on Levee Lane after receiving a call that a man, later identified by authorities as Kevin Hamilton, 36, was holding his wife and children hostage.

Police said they received a call around 1 a.m. about a domestic incident.  A woman and her two children were able to leave the home and went to a neighbor's house for help, police said.

When officers arrived, Hamilton started shooting a gun inside the home, according to police.

Ormond Beach police said Hamilton was taken into custody after he surrendered and left the home.

Volusia County authorities alerted residents located within 1 mile of the home about the incident.
