Woman stole, pawned nearly $4,000 in jewelry in unincorporated Cocoa, deputies say

Jessica Shorter, 29, held without bond

COCOA, Fla. – A woman was arrested and charged in connection with the theft of several pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $3,970 on Sept. 4.

According to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office, Jessica E. Shorter, 29, was seen on surveillance cameras reaching into a jewelry case at Kline's Jewelry store at 7015 N. US-1 and taking jewelry while the clerk was distracted.

Deputies said the jewelry was found and recovered at a nearby pawn shop and returned to the jewelry store.

Shorter is charged with grand theft, dealing in stolen property, false verification of ownership and felony violation of probation. She is being held at the Brevard County Jail without bond.

Deputies said Shorter was also arrested on Sept. 14 by Indialantic police regarding a similar incident at a different business.
