The teen's bite was approximately 4 inches in diameter, officials said.  He was not seriously injured.

The red flag was being flown at Volusia County beaches as the waters had a moderate current and 2 to 4-foot surf. Parts of the beach were closed during a high tide around 2:15 p.m.

Officials said there were two additional water rescues.
