Officials investigate after child drowns in Clermont pool

CLERMONT, Fla. – Clermont police continue to investigate the drowning of an 17-month-old girl.

Police responded to the 3300 block of White Blossom Lane after a 911 call was made around 8 p.m. Tuesday about an unresponsive child.

Police said the mother of the baby pulled the girl out of the pool.

Fire officials and EMS performed CPR on the baby, who was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Clermont police said Wednesday that the medical examiner ruled the death an accidental drowning.  Charges are not expected to be filed against the parents, police said.
