Seminole County high school cleared after bomb threat

Winter Springs High School grounds evacuated due to threat

WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A Seminole County high school has been cleared after a bomb threat was called into the school on Wednesday afternoon.

Winter Springs High School grounds were evacuated due to the threat, which was called in at 2:40 p.m., according to officials. The scene was cleared just before 5 p.m.

Officials said Wednesday was an early release day, so school was dismissed for the day when the evacuation was ordered.

Seminole County Public Schools said there were a few faculty members, staff and a few clubs still on campus that were sent home.

The football team was practicing but was not evacuated because they were on a field away from the school, officials said.
