OCOEE, Fla. – A woman returning home from a lab appointment Thursday morning was attacked by a burglar inside her Ocoee home, police said.

The attack happened around 7 a.m. in the 800 block of Flewelling Avenue.

Police said a neighbor found the woman lying near the sidewalk outside her home, and she was bleeding from her neck and head.  The woman was taken to a hospital, but her condition is not known.

According to Ocoee, police, the woman came home and noticed that a rear French door was opened, and she assumed her husband was in the house and called his name.  Police said a man ran out of her bedroom and struck her on the head with a club while yelling, "Where's the meth?"

The woman grabbed her phone and ran outside while yelling for help, police said.

Police searched the woman's home but did not locate the assailant.

The neighbor said she noticed that her dog was barking continuously about 15 minutes before she heard the woman screaming for help.

The culprit was described as a white man, about 5 feet 9 inches tall with a slender build and a "sunken" face.  He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and possibly blue jeans.
