Shots fired into home overnight hits one person

Couple was asleep when attack occurred


LEESBURG, Fla. – A sleeping couple awoke to gunshots fired from outside their home Saturday morning.

The Leesburg Police Department said that two people woke up to gunshot at 4:42 a.m. Saturday at their home at 902 Beecher St. in Leesburg.

Jerimiah Edmound and his girlfriend, Jealisa Dority were sleeping when the shooting begin, officers said.

Police said Dority suffered a non-life-threatening shot to her arm and was transported to Ocala Regional Medical Center and later released, Edmound was not injured in the attack. Neither of the victims saw the shooter and at this time there are no witnesses.
