Man wanted in attempted abduction of 3-year-old in Sumter

Man tried to lure boy into truck, deputies say

BUSHNELL, Fla. – Sumter County deputies are asking for help finding the man who tried to abduct a 3-year-old boy.

The kidnapping attempt happened around noon Saturday on North Florida Street in Bushnell, deputies said.

According to the boy's father. his children were playing outside when a concerned citizen informed him that a Hispanic man in a truck was watching his children.

The boy told deputies the man approached him when he was playing and said, "Come on, let's go, get in," while standing near his truck. The boy said he screamed and ran to find his sister.

The boy's sister then told her father that the man was hiding in some bushes, and when the father went out to confront the man, he ran to a nearby truck.

The man was seen driving away in a two-tone (tan on the bottom and green on the top) four-door Dodge Ram pickup truck with dual exhaust and tinted windows.
