Man accused of setting Cocoa home ablaze, killing father

Isaac Maicus arrested on charges of murder, arson

COCOA, Fla. – A man was arrested Thursday morning on suspicion of purposely setting his Cocoa mobile home ablaze and killing his father who was inside.

Isaac Maicus, 35, was arrested on charges of murder and arson.

Authorities said Stanley Maicus, 67, was pulled from the burning home in the 1700 block of Nomad Street but died at a hospital a short time later.

The fire started in the front of the home and moved to the back, officials said.

“He admitted to setting the fire,” Cocoa police Detective Ben Erskine said. “He knew his father was inside the trailer at the time and he made no attempt to get him out.”

Isaac Maicus was arrested in May on allegations of beating his father during a fight over what show to watch on TV.  He was recently released from jail.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm cause and manner of death.
