ORLANDO, Fla. – A stray dog that was rescued by Orange County firefighters on Christmas Eve is now recovering in a foster home.
The dog, originally called Earl, has been renamed Hooch by the rescue group FurEver Friendz.
The group posted a video of Hooch over the weekend, showing him playing at his foster home.
Hooch is expected to visit a veterinarian on Monday to receive treatment for an eye infection and hair loss.
He was found Christmas Eve in an abandoned swimming pool crying for help. A neighbor who called 911 said the dog had been treading water and barking for hours.
Hooch is believed to be about 8 years old and weighs about 50 pounds.
