Victim undergoes surgery; 2 gunmen sought in Melbourne

MELBOURNE, Fla. – Two gunmen stormed a Melbourne apartment early Monday and shot a man during a home invasion robbery, police said.

The shooting occurred around 12:35 a.m. at 32 Circle Ave.

According to Melbourne police, the gunmen confronted four people inside the apartment and demanded anything of value.

One of the residents did not cooperate and was shot in the stomach, police said. He was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center and underwent surgery. He's expected to recover, police said.

The gunmen fled the area in a vehicle and dropped a box that contained counterfeit narcotics and paraphernalia, according to police.
