2-year-old shot, critically injured in Osceola County identified

Family members tell detectives boy found gun in truck, cops say

ST. CLOUD, Fla. – A toddler remains in critical condition after being shot inside a truck. The shooting took place at a home along Michigan Avenue just at 6 p.m. on Monday.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office said the loaded gun was in plain view before 2-year-old Ethan Walker picked it up, before attempting to exit the vehicle. Investigators said the child was only left alone for a few minutes. The Sheriff's Office also said that other adults were outside, near the vehicle.

"That family members wanted to take some items from the truck into the house because he thought he could do that quickly and Ethan was playing in the back seat of the truck," said Twis Lizasuain with the Osceola County Sheriff's Office. "We are not sure if he accidentally shot himself or if the gun discharged."
Investigators also said that the gun belongs to a family member.

No charges have been filed, but law enforcement said that their investigation is ongoing.
