Flagler deputies, Crimestoppers team up to make billboard for missing Bunnell man

George Contos, 59, vanished in May 2015

BUNNELL, Fla. – Flagler County Sheriff's Office and Crime Stoppers hope a billboard and up to a $10,000 reward will help bring home a missing Bunnell man.

Workers put up the finishing touches on the billboard that asks for the public's help finding 59-year-old George Contos after he suddenly disappeared in May 2015.

"Right now, the leads have stopped. We have no other further information to go on," said Sheriff James Manfre.

Authorities said Contos, who also goes by "Uncle Waldo," was last seen on May 9 and his Lincoln town car was found abandoned at an Ace Hardware store on May 20. Investigators believe his disappearance is suspicious and foul play is to blame.

"Whether it's a small amount or big amount of information anything is better than nothing," said Aaron Thayer, Contos' son.

Contos, a motorcycle enthusiast is described as a white male and 230 pounds. He also had his left leg amputated with a prosthetic replacement.

"Someone out there has some piece of information that will help us lead to the discovery of what happened to George and we hope that this billboard remains as a constant reminder to the community that we need their help," said Manfre.
