Michael Phillips, 19, charged with attempted murder

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – Police arrested Michael Dakota Phillips, 19, for breaking into an Ormond Beach family's home and repeatedly stabbing the husband and wife.

Police said Phillips was living a few doors away from the couple he viciously and repeatedly stabbed. He's now charged with two counts of attempted murder.

According to the arrest report, in the early morning hours of Dec. 27, one of the victims woke up and found a man in her living room. Without a word, the man punched and beat her. She screamed and ran, and that's when her husband rushed to help but was also attacked.

The 27-year-old woman was stabbed eight times. Her husband was stabbed seven times, including several near his heart and stomach.

The man's intestines had to be removed and he had a collapsed lung. Their two young children were home at the time but were not hurt.

Police quickly sent out a sketch of the mystery attacker and almost immediately, tips poured in. One after another, people identified the attacker as Phillips.

His own father said Phillips had "recent severe anger issues."

When police showed the victims Phillips' picture the wife started crying and said, "It feels like he is looking at me the way he did when he hurt me."
