Trial date set for man in fatal Orlando police bar shooting

Kody Roach could find out when he will stand trial

ORLANDO, Fla. – A man charged with murder after a police shooting killed an innocent woman had his trial date set on Thursday.

An Orlando police officer shot at Kody Roach at the Vixen Night Club on Pine Street in 2014 after getting into a confrontation in front of the establishment. Roach never fired any shots, but he was charged with murder after a bullet from the officer's gun killed a 22-year-old bystander, Maria Godinez.

The officer was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Roach's pre-trial date was set for May 17, with his trial set for March 28.

If convicted, Roach could face life in prison.
