Toddler bitten by dog, airlifted to hospital, Volusia deputies say


DeLEON SPRINGS, Fla. – A toddler was airlifted to the hospital after being bitten by a dog on Friday at a DeLeon Springs home, according to Volusia County deputies.

Deputies said the incident was reported as a family dog biting a 19-month-old child on the head in the 4900 block of Commerce Avenue just after 5 p.m.

The toddler was airlifted to Arnold Palmer Hospital as a trauma alert.

Deputies said the initial description of the dog was a pit bull.

Animal Control authorities are investigating.
