Arkansas officers investigate whether Port Orange woman was pushed from moving truck

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – Investigators in Arkansas are trying to determine if a woman was deliberately pushed to her death from a moving truck.

Arkansas State Police say Karol Ann Sheffield, 55, of Port Orange, fell out of the moving semi-truck being driven by her husband, William Lloyd Sheffield, 55.

Investigators say he told them his wife was securing a door when she fell out of the passenger-side of the truck, rolling under the trailer, where she was run over.

She later died at a Fort Smith hospital.

News 6 investigated and found Sheffield has been charged at least three times with domestic violence, and now Arkansas State Police are trying to determine if something more sinister may have happened to his wife.

Investigators say they are turning over their findings to the state prosecutor's office in Crawford County, Arkansas.

They say it will be up to the office to determine if there is evidence to pursue a criminal investigation against Sheffield.
