Brevard corrections deputy arrested over sexual relationship with inmate

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A Brevard County Sheriff's Office correctional employee has been arrested and charged after investigators said he engaged in inappropriate relations with an inmate, News 6 partner Florida Today reports.

Barre Taylor, a five-year veteran with the sheriff's office was fired from his position and charged with one count of felony sexual misconduct. The investigation is still underway.

The investigation started Tuesday when police "developed information of sexual misconduct" through other inmates at the jail, Florida Today reported.

Investigators believe the misconduct was also restricted to two other incidents.

The inmate, who was not named, will not face any additional charges as a result of the incident.
